Beat Box Dance Academy brings a standards-based hip-hop curriculum to schools and youth organizations, filling the gap left by shrinking arts and physical education programs. Our classes blend dance, creativity, and moderate-to-vigorous activity, helping students build 21st-century skills like critical thinking, collaboration, and cultural awareness. Students learn foundational hip-hop technique, explore the history and influence of the culture, and develop confidence through movement.
Our program aligns with educational goals, supports physical activity needs, and is taught by professionally trained instructors. With our turnkey model, schools gain a high-quality performing arts program without the burden of hiring, training, or managing additional staff.

Rhasaan Sherrill is the Founder and Director of Beat Box Dance Academy and a passionate dance educator with over a decade of experience empowering youth through movement. She founded Beat Box Dance Academy in 2016 with a clear mission: to bring culturally responsive, high-quality hip-hop dance education into schools and community spaces across California.
With a background in hip-hop dance instruction, curriculum development, and youth empowerment, Rhasaan has taught thousands of students and partnered with more than 20 schools and districts statewide. Her programs blend creativity, teamwork, and performance while aligning with National Core Arts Standards and Visual & Performing Arts frameworks. Under her leadership, Beat Box Dance Academy students have performed at university showcases, community events, and alongside professional artists.
At the heart of Rhasaan’s work is a commitment to creating inclusive, active learning environments where students—especially kinesthetic learners—can build confidence, find their voice, and thrive. Her joyful, engaging teaching style reflects her belief that dance is not only an art form, but a powerful tool for self-expression, connection, and personal growth.
